Plein air Art and Realism

Plein air is the French term for painting outside, attributed to the impressionist movement in the mid-1800s. There has been a resurgence and interest in recent years. From an early age, my parents, sister and I spent weekends on sketch trips, essentially participating in painting and sketching the beauty all around. There is something special about seeing the lights, darks and colors at different times of the day. It is a heartfelt activity and certainly appealing for a nature lover.
